I’ve been reading through Genesis. Learning a lot. I’ve read it before, but, I think a lot of times I read the Bible to say I read it…but, not to actually grow and experience God by reading His word. It’s been like reading something I’ve never read before.
I’m always blown away by how cool God is, and how crappy we are, and how He still loves us.
Reading the beginning has really made me excited for the end. God created us as His vice regents, His representatives on earth to care for it and rule over it. It was supposed to be this beautiful awesome incredible relationship with Him. We were created for His purpose. We were created in HIS IMAGE. Humanity as a species was set apart from all other creatures and crowned with glory and honor as ruler of the earth (Ps. 8:5-8). We were made as a unique reflection of God. It was freakin awesome.
Then the Fall.
But, dude, that was not the end because this sets up the rest of the Bible that tells the story of God redeeming His people and making a way for us to be with Him again someday. He could have blown us up and been like “Screw this,” BUT He loves us.
Even in the midst of the Fall, God alludes to Jesus coming and saving His people!
“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring, he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
I mean, yeah, it kinda seems like a downer reading about the Fall at first, but, WE KNOW HOW IT ENDS
Skip ahead to Rev 20:10
“and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
Yes. In this world we will have pain and suffering and earthquakes that destroy countless lives, but, take heart, my friends, because one day, there will be NO MORE PAIN. One day we will be with Him forever and Satan DOES NOT WIN.
“They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.” Rev 22:4-5
